Uzbekistan and Leningrad region discuss prospects for cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Uzbekistan held negotiations at the Administration of the Leningrad Region of Russia to discuss prospects for cooperation.

The Administration of Leningrad Region emphasized that Uzbekistan is a long-term and reliable partner of the region.

Vice-Governor of Leningrad Region for Domestic Policy Anna Danilyuk said that the Russian side is working on preparing an international business mission of enterprises from the Leningrad Region to Uzbekistan, planned for this year.

Danilyuk also noted that the Russian side intends to develop programs for interaction and implementation of educational projects in Uzbekistan, aimed at increasing the competencies of future workers in knowledge of the Russian language, culture and traditions.

“Employers in the Leningrad region are interested in attracting young specialists from Uzbekistan, especially for food industry and agricultural enterprises,” added Danilyuk.

She expressed hope that this meeting will be an important step in strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation between the Leningrad region and Uzbekistan, and will also contribute to the further development of economic ties and contacts in all areas.

During the meeting, the possibility of localizing production in the Syrdarya region for investors from the Leningrad region was discussed.

The prospect of concluding cooperation agreements between the Government of the Leningrad region and the khokimiyats of the Tashkent and Bukhara regions in the trade, economic, scientific, technical and socio-cultural spheres was also considered.

The Uzbek side expressed interest in raising cattle and growing grain crops in the Leningrad region.

The participants also discussed further prospects for cooperation in the social and humanitarian sphere, the preservation of historical memory, youth policy and education, as well as in the field of labor migration.
