Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan strengthen cooperation in tourism

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 12 May 2025, in Samarkand, the fifth session of the Inter-Parliamentary Commission on Cooperation between the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic hosted the Uzbek-Kyrgyz Tourism Forum.

The event, held in a hybrid format, gathered around 200 participants, including senators, deputies, diplomats, representatives of government agencies, the tourism industry, business, and educational institutions from both countries.

Opening the forum, the speakers emphasized the importance of developing tourism cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, highlighted the positive dynamics of mutual travel, and outlined prospects for creating cross-border routes and jointly promoting the tourist potential of both countries.

Participants were presented with information about Uzbekistan's tourist opportunities, ongoing reforms in the industry, prospects for expanding investment and educational cooperation, and the potential of the Samarkand region.

Particular attention was given to the activities of the "Silk Road" Tourist Center, the possibilities of the International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, and the United Nations Academy of Tourism in Samarkand.

During the forum, an exchange of experiences in tourism took place, discussing ways to expand cooperation in developing tour packages, organizing cultural events, and modernizing tourist infrastructure. Representatives of tourism companies from both countries held separate meetings, discussing specific routes and initiatives for joint tour development.

The forum served as an effective platform for strengthening business ties between tour operators from Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, which, in turn, will contribute to the further growth of tourist exchanges and deepen cooperation in this field.
