Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan: measures to deepen multifaceted cooperation discussed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 25 February, Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov met with Director of the National Investment Agency under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Umbriel Temiraliyev, who is in our country on a working visit, on 25 February. 

During the talks, the current state and further measures for the accelerated implementation of the agreements reached during the state visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Kyrgyz Republic in January of this year were discussed.

The parties emphasized the historical significance of this visit, which gave a powerful impetus to building up bilateral multifaceted relations within the framework of a comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

In this context, the timeliness and wide range of a solid package of documents signed during the visit was noted. The current stages and upcoming joint plans for the accelerated implementation of the agreements reached in the fields of the chemical and textile industries, mechanical engineering, the production of textile, pharmaceutical, leather and footwear products, building materials, electrical engineering, as well as in the field of energy, agriculture, transport, logistics and tourism.

In particular, the parties discussed the implementation of agreements on the creation of intensive orchards and high-tech greenhouses in the territories of the two countries. Specific locations and initiators of joint projects have already been identified. Readiness was expressed to provide comprehensive assistance to representatives of the business community to speed up the design work.

There was also an exchange of views on cooperation in the energy sector. The necessary documents are being prepared for adoption as part of the construction of the Kambarata HPP-1.

The activities of the Uzbek-Kyrgyz Development Fund are considered as one of the most important instruments for co-financing investment initiatives in order to increase industrial cooperation and create interconnected value chains between manufacturers of the two countries.

Following the talks, a commitment was expressed to continue close joint work in all the discussed areas and a format for further interaction was agreed in order to accelerate the implementation of the considered projects and initiatives.
