Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan expand cooperation in higher education and science
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 25 March, a meeting took place in Tashkent between the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovations of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Kunghirotboy Sharipov, and the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to Uzbekistan, Duyshonkul Chotonov
During the discussions, the parties addressed current issues regarding the development of cooperation in higher education, science, and innovations, emphasizing the importance of taking bilateral relations in this sphere to a new level.
It was noted that significant practical results have been achieved over the past period. In particular, Uzbekistan has allocated 100 state grants for Kyrgyz students, and currently 360 Kyrgyz students are studying in Uzbek higher education institutions.
In addition, a grant project on water resource management is being implemented in cooperation between the National Research University “Tashkent Institute of Irrigation Engineers and Agricultural Mechanization” and scientific institutions of Kyrgyzstan.
Moreover, over the past few years, more than 90 cooperation agreements have been signed during the forum of university rectors from both countries.
The parties also agreed to explore the possibility of creating a research center to develop pilgrimage tourism, as well as to implement a joint project for the construction of a micro-hydropower plant in partnership between the Fergana State Technical University and universities in Kyrgyzstan in the field of sustainable energy.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed confidence that this cooperation would further strengthen the friendly relations between the two countries.
