Uzbekistan and KfW ImpexBank Discuss Joint Projects in the Transport Sector
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 6 August, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Transport, Ilkhom Makhkamov, held a meeting with representatives of KfW ImpexBank — Business Development Director and Head of the Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and South Caucasus Department Ekaterina Galitsyna, and Director of the "Mobility Land-Based Transportation" division Silvia Sedlacek.
During the talks, the parties discussed prospects for cooperation in implementing large-scale projects aimed at developing the country’s transport sector. Special attention was given to the acquisition of specialized road machinery from leading European manufacturers, as well as to the modernization of infrastructure at Uzbekistan’s international and regional airports.
The discussion also covered initiatives to build a modern transport infrastructure. In particular, they addressed the development of a national transport strategy, the introduction of advanced solutions in freight transportation, including containerization, and the establishment of logistics centers within the republic.
Following the meeting, both sides outlined concrete steps toward implementing priority projects in the fields of transport and logistics.
