Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan sign documents for US$3 billion

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan signed a number of documents totaling more than US$3 billion following the Uzbek-Kazakh interregional business forum held in Tashkent.

As a result of the business forum, an agreement was signed on the development of cooperation in the trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres between the cities of Samarkand and Turkestan, a separate "Road Map" with specific investment projects and trade contracts in the field of agriculture, as well as a solid package of agreements that consolidated plans for the development of interaction between the business circles of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.

The largest of them include:

- Program of cooperation to increase mutual trade and implementation of joint projects in the field of agro-industrial complex between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan (US$1.31 billion);

- Agreement on the supply of vehicle kits and components of the Chevrolet brand (US$500 million)

- Memorandum of Understanding on the project for the construction of a textile complex in Shymkent (project cost US$98 million)

- Modernization of signaling and communications at the Angren-Pap-Kokand-Andijan-Savay railway section (US$76.4 million);

- Memorandum of cooperation on the construction of a multimodal transport and logistics center in Uzbekistan (US$70 million);

- Licensing agreement for the production of household appliances "Artel" (US$55 million);

- Agreement on financing the project "Organization of the production of Chevrolet cars in Kazakhstan using the small-scale assembly method" (US$50 million);

- Agreement on the start of an investment project for the production of ceramic tiles in Astana (US$40 million) and others.

Also, a Memorandum of Understanding on conducting geological exploration work in the territories of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, a Memorandum of Mutual Cooperation in the energy sector and a Memorandum of Understanding in trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres between the Khokimiyat of the city of Samarkand and the akimat of the city of Turkestan were also signed.
