Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan discuss strengthening cooperation in digital technologies
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation led by Jaslan Madiev, Minister of Digital Development, Innovations, and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan, visited the Ministry of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan and IT Park Uzbekistan.
During the visit, guests were introduced to the recently inaugurated Regional Structure of the Executive Committee of the Regional Communications Commonwealth for Central Asian countries, opened on 22 May in Tashkent. Presentations were given on the reforms being implemented by the Ministry of Digital Technologies, its key activities, and future plans.
The Kazakh delegation also received detailed briefings on the activities of the Ustudy IT academy, specializing in training qualified IT professionals; the Center for Innovative Projects focused on cybersecurity for critical infrastructure — UZSOC; and the Unified Integrator of Digital Solutions — UZINFOCOM. Special attention was paid to projects in artificial intelligence and advanced digital technologies.
The main event of the visit was the official meeting between Sherzod Shermatov, Minister of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan, and the Kazakh delegation. The parties discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation, address existing challenges, and implement new initiatives.
Specifically, they considered prospects for improving cross-border telecommunications services, promoting IT services from Uzbek and Kazakh companies on the global market, increasing exports of digital services, and expanding effective interaction between the two countries' technoparks.
Concrete proposals were made to launch joint projects within incubation and acceleration programs. Directions for cooperation were defined regarding creating new opportunities for Kazakh startups, attracting investments, and facilitating their entry into international platforms.
Following the meeting, both sides agreed to support active participation of the Kazakh delegation in international events such as the UN Forum on Public Services to be held in 2025 in Samarkand, and the ICT Week Uzbekistan scheduled for 23–25 September 2025, in Tashkent.
The parties confirmed their readiness to further deepen cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan in digital technologies, innovations, and telecommunications, emphasizing their commitment to consistent joint work in these areas.
