Uzbekistan and Jordan Preparing Preferential Trade Agreement

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 11 August, a delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan headed by Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov held a series of meetings during an official visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

The talks began with a meeting with Jordan’s Minister of Investment, Dr. Tariq Abu Ghazaleh. The parties discussed prospects for expanding investment cooperation, exchanged experience in attracting foreign direct investment, and creating a favorable business climate.

This was followed by a meeting with Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yarub Qudah, where the sides addressed the issues of increasing bilateral trade and establishing direct contacts between the business communities of both countries. Special attention was given to industrial cooperation and the exchange of experience in export support. As a result of the negotiations, an agreement was reached to prepare a Preferential Trade Agreement between Uzbekistan and Jordan.

As part of the visit, negotiations were also held with Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Sameem Smirat, CEO of the King Hussein Business Park Ammar Izzeddin, Chairman of the Jordan Chamber of Industry Eng. Fathi Jaghbir, as well as with executives of leading companies, including National Arab Mining Company, Zarhat Company, Arab Pesticides and Veterinary Drugs Manufacturing Company, Jordan Phosphate Mines Company, Grow Tech, Classic Fashion Apparel Industry, and others.

A key event of the day was a round table with the leadership of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce and more than 20 companies from the pharmaceutical, chemical, textile, electrical engineering, food, and other industries. The Jordanian business community was presented with a detailed overview of Uzbekistan’s investment climate, prospective projects, and concrete areas for joint cooperation were agreed upon.
