Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A working meeting was held in the city of Nara (Japan) between Gayane Umerova, Chairperson of the Uzbekistan Fund for the Development of Culture and Art, Mayor of Nara Mr. Gen Nakagawa, and the head of the Todai-ji Buddhist Temple, high-ranking spiritual leader Betto Hashimura Kohei.

During the talks, the parties discussed prospects for expanding cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan.

Key topics of the dialogue included organizing joint exhibition projects, developing partnerships between museums in the two countries, strengthening professional ties in the field of culture.

Particular attention was given to the preparation of a large-scale archaeological exhibition planned for 2027 at the Nara National Museum.

After the official program, the delegation visited the Todai-ji Temple — one of Japan's most significant religious and historical landmarks, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The event marked another step in the development of bilateral cultural dialogue, emphasizing mutual interest in preserving and promoting shared historical heritage.
