Uzbekistan and Japan discuss prospects for expanding cooperation in information technology
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Minister of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan Sherzod Shermatov met with the Ambassador of Japan to Uzbekistan Takashi Hattori to discuss prospects for strengthening bilateral cooperation in the IT sector.
During the meeting, the parties addressed key issues related to the further development of digital technology collaboration, providing high-paying job opportunities for young professionals, and expanding the business process outsourcing (BPO) sector.
Minister Shermatov praised Japan’s technological expertise and its contribution to the growth of Uzbekistan’s IT ecosystem. He highlighted the country’s ongoing reforms aimed at increasing IT service exports, creating a favorable environment for international companies, and training skilled specialists.
He also outlined government initiatives to equip young people with modern skills in programming, artificial intelligence, and other technology-driven fields.
Discussions also focused on expanding cooperation in the BPO sector. It was noted that involving Uzbek youth in remote service operations with leading Japanese companies would enhance their competitiveness in the global labor market.
To support this effort, both sides proposed optimizing IT Park infrastructure, expanding Japanese language training programs, and fostering joint projects with Japanese enterprises.
Ambassador Takashi Hattori emphasized Japan’s strong interest in deepening technological cooperation with Uzbekistan and put forward initiatives to further enhance IT collaboration between the two countries. He also noted the growing interest of Japanese companies in expanding their IT service operations in Uzbekistan.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties discussed ways to strengthen future cooperation and implement new joint projects.
