The state and prospects of developing Uzbek-Irish relations in bilateral and multiteral formats, international and regional issues were considered, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said.
It was noted that in trade, economic, finance and invesment spheres a substantial potential is left idle. In this regard the parties welcomed the signing of intergovernmental Convention for the avoidance of double taxation and prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income and on property.
The Irish delegation, headed by David Donoghue, political director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ireland, was presented with detailed information about existing opportunities for implementing joint projects in “Navoi” Free industrial-economic zone and “Angren” Special industrial zone, where investors are granted substantial tax and customs benefits and preferences.
The parties agreed to assist Uzbek and Irish travel agencies in establishing direct links with each other.
The prospects of developing cooperation in cultural and humanitarian spheres as well as other issues were also considered.
A mutual interest in enhancing relations in different areas of interaction was affirmed during the meeting.
