Uzbekistan and international banks discuss efforts to accelerate the privatization of state-owned enterprises

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan Bobur Khojaev held a meeting with representatives of Multilateral Development Banks.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the World Bank (WB) and the International Finance Corporation.

The meeting was dedicated to discussing efforts to accelerate the privatization of state-owned enterprises and stimulate sustainable economic growth in Uzbekistan.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Bobur Khojaev paid special attention to the issues of reforming state-owned enterprises in Uzbekistan and promoting the privatization program.

Cooperation between the government and multilateral development banks is expected to play an important role in facilitating the privatization of state-owned enterprises, thereby opening up new opportunities for investment, innovation and job creation in Uzbekistan.

During the meeting, participants discussed the overall framework of the transformation plan and strategic key performance indicators (KPIs) needed to effectively optimize the privatization process. Using the experience and resources of multilateral development banks, it is planned to develop a road map for the transformation of state-owned enterprises in Uzbekistan based on the principles of openness, accountability and efficiency.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to hold bilateral meetings in order to further deepen cooperation and harmonize strategies.
