Uzbekistan and GSMA Discuss Digital Transformation Reforms

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov held talks with GSMA Director of Regulatory Affairs and GSMA Foundation President John Giusti, according to post-meeting information.

The discussions focused on reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan in the field of digital transformation, the development of telecommunications infrastructure, and expanding public access to internet services.

Special attention was given to the introduction of affordable devices and tariffs, the development of digital skills among the population, and the expansion of opportunities for using online services.

GSMA representatives highly evaluated Uzbekistan’s experience in developing digital competencies and its startup ecosystem.

The parties also exchanged views on the integration of satellite communications and mobile networks, as well as international approaches to regulating low-orbit satellite systems.

Following the talks, both sides confirmed their readiness to further expand cooperation in digital infrastructure, telecommunications, and innovation, as well as to exchange international experience and implement joint initiatives.
