Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Umid Abidkhadjaev, met with a delegation from the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), led by Beate Schorheit.
The meeting was held within the framework of the project supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), titled "Support to the Private Sector of Uzbekistan and Economic Policy Consulting."
The main topics of discussion included the development of a monitoring and evaluation system for industrial policy using the EQuIP methodology, as well as the preparation of Uzbekistan’s industrial development strategy.
The meeting also addressed initiatives to support "green" startups, projects being implemented in cooperation with universities and industrial companies, and preparing industrial enterprises for cross-border carbon emissions regulations.
The "Support to the Private Sector of Uzbekistan and Economic Policy Consulting" project aims to assist Uzbekistan in green industrialization, the introduction of energy-saving and resource-efficient technologies, aligning with the strategic goals of sustainable national economic development.
Both sides confirmed their readiness for active cooperation to achieve the set goals and implement effective solutions in economic policy.
The project will be implemented using a multi-step approach, ensuring close collaboration with government agencies, private companies, business associations, and research institutes.
One of the key objectives is to establish a solid foundation for the implementation of environmentally friendly technologies and the development of "green" industry in Uzbekistan.
The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and is being implemented with the support of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
