Uzbekistan and China discuss new aspects of relations in the field of sports

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Currently, the head (minister) of the General State Administration of Physical Culture and Sports of the People’s Republic of China (PRC), President of the Chinese Olympic Committee and head of the International Wushu Federation Gao Zhidan is on a working visit to our country. On 25 May, meetings were held on the topic of raising friendly ties between Uzbekistan and China to a new level in the sports field.

First, the guest was met by the leadership of the Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan, headed by Adham Ikramov. After this, the parties held a meeting dedicated to issues of mutual cooperation. It was also attended by the Extraordinary and

Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Uzbekistan Yu Jun and Secretary General of the NOC Oybek Kasimov also attended the meeting.

During the conversation, Adham Ikramov noted that the President pays enormous attention to the development of the industry and the implementation of large-scale reforms. Oybek Kasimov also spoke about preparations for the Asian and Para-Asian Youth Games Tashkent 2025, where work is being carried out taking into account the experience of China.

In turn, Gao Zhidan also emphasized that the significant achievements of Uzbek athletes in recent years, in particular, getting into the top five participating countries at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Summer Games, are the result of reforms carried out in the state.

After this, the Chinese delegation visited the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan. Deputy Minister of Sports Shakhrullo Makhmudov and Oybek Kasimov told the guests about the activities of the Committee and the participation of Uzbek athletes in the Olympic Games.

It is worth noting that 2020 was marked by the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the Olympic Committees of Uzbekistan and China. O. Kasimov put forward his proposals for updating this memorandum and enriching its provisions. Mr. Zhidan supported him, saying that the Chinese side is glad to cooperate with our country.
