Uzbekistan and Belarus discuss issues of higher and professional education and cooperation in the scientific field

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 6 February, a delegation led by the Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus Andrei Ivanets visited the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The delegation was received by the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation Kongratebai Sharipov.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of improving the quality of higher education and training personnel that meet the requirements of the modern labor market on the basis of high-tech production.

Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation Kongratebai Sharipov noted that as a result of reforms in recent years, 100 new higher educational institutions have been created in our country, in particular, many foreign universities are operating. He especially noted the activities of the Belarusian-Uzbek Intersectoral Institute of Applied Technical Qualifications in the city of Tashkent.

– Taking into account the priorities of the socio-economic development of our country, we need to improve the quality of training for newly created industries, which cover such industries as energy, metallurgy, mechanical engineering, mining, alternative energy sources, nuclear energy, oil and gas production, railway construction, textile production, etc., noted Kongratbai Sharipov.

Andrei Ivanets made proposals such as the creation of a scientific and technical consortium between scientists from the two countries, the development of distance education, the organization of internships for teachers of colleges and vocational schools of our country in the state of Belarus, cooperation between technology parks and the organization of student teams.

The parties also discussed issues of further development of Uzbek-Belarusian joint scientific project programs, organization of internships for students at large high-tech enterprises, further expansion of Uzbekistan’s participation in international competitions of professional educational excellence organized among students of professional educational institutions, training of specialists in interdisciplinary fields.

In addition, the need to develop the activities of professional and higher educational institutions in the regions was noted. An exchange of views took place on the need to implement projects aimed at bringing high-tech products created by higher educational institutions of the two countries to the domestic and foreign markets.
