Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan to develop political dialogue
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Presidents of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan stated about their agreement to boost political dialogue on various levels on all directions of bilateral relations, international and regional problems of mutual interest, the joint declaration of the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov and the President of Azerbaijan Ilkham Aliev, signed on 27 September, said.

The leaders of two state said that inter-parliamentary relations are important part of bilateral cooperation. It was noted that it is important to boost cooperation between parliaments of two states and conduct regular mutual visits of parliament members.

The sides expressed their resolve in further deepening bilateral relations in economy, trade, transport, communication, tourism, science, education and culture spheres, as well as healthcare, environment and others. They added that it is necessary to develop existing legal base.

The presidents confirmed their readiness further development of close cooperation and coordination of the efforts on issues of mutual interest, as well as mutual support of positions within the UN and its institutions, OSCE and other international organization of universal and regional character, including within Organization of Islamic Conference.

The declaration noted that the sides pay special attention to raising role of the UN and its institutions in solving international and regional security, sustainable development, considering the organization as universal tool in ensuring equal inter-state relations, strengthening stability and security in the world.

In this context, the countries, based on existing legal base, will ensure further effective implementation of the programme on cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan for 2010-2012, the document said.

Islam Karimov and Ilkham Aliev underlined importance of international and bilateral cooperation on combating terrorism, separatism, extremism, trans-border organized crime, illegal drug turnover, psychotropic means, human trafficking, spread of mass destruction weapons and money laundering.

Presidents, confirming their positions on inadmissibility of change of internationally acknowledged borders with use of power, expressed support to efforts of each other, directed at against actions threatening to sovereignty and territorial integrity of the countries.

The resolution said that it is necessary to speed up settlement of Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in line with commonly accepted principles and norms of international right, first of all, adhering and ensuring sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability of Azerbaijan borders, as well as corresponding resolution of the UN Security Council and OSCE decisions.

Citing efforts within the OSCE, directed at peaceful settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, as well as activity of the OSCE Minsk Group, the sides underlined importance of adopting more efficient and resolute steps in this direction.

Presidents stated that the Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations are in high level and in the fully meets friendship and strategic partnership spirit, meeting fundamental interests of people of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.
