Uzbekistan and Afghanistan discuss joint IT projects during high-level digital dialogue
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation led by Najibullah Hayat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, visited Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Digital Technologies and IT Park Uzbekistan.
During the visit, the Afghan side received a detailed presentation on Uzbekistan’s ongoing digital transformation efforts, key focus areas, and upcoming initiatives in the ICT sector.
The delegation was introduced to several digital institutions, including Ustudy IT Academy, which specializes in IT talent development; the UZSOC Innovation Center, responsible for cybersecurity of critical infrastructure; and UZINFOCOM, the national IT integrator. Special attention was given to AI-driven projects and digital solutions under development.
The central event of the visit was an official meeting between Sherzod Shermatov, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Digital Technologies, and Najibullah Hayat. Discussions centered on the development of digital infrastructure, fostering a favorable digital ecosystem, and expanding bilateral cooperation in digitalization.
As a result of the talks, both sides agreed to jointly draft a roadmap for future projects of mutual interest, aimed at strengthening their digital partnership.
Minister Shermatov invited the Afghan delegation to participate in two major upcoming events in Uzbekistan: the UN Public Service Forum to be held in Samarkand this June, and ICT Week Uzbekistan, scheduled for 23–25 September in Tashkent.
The meeting concluded with expressions of gratitude for the constructive exchange and mutual confidence in the successful implementation of the agreed initiatives.
