Uzbekistan Airways transports 2.16m passengers in 2010
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan Havo Yollari (Uzbekistan Airways), national airline of Uzbekistan, carried out 23,523 flights in 2010, which is 564 flights less compared to 2009, the press service of the company said.

At the same time, the airline transported over 2.16 million passengers in 2010, which is up by 14.3% year-on-year. Average load per flight rose from 78 to 92 passengers.

The airline said it received five A320 airplanes in 2010, which allowed to replace old aircraft of Tu-154 aircrafts from 1 January 2011. Uzbekistan Havo Yollari will receive five more A320 airplanes in 2011.

The Uzbek airline said that exploitation of two A320 airplanes, received in July-August, proved commercial effectiveness of these types of aircrafts. According to operative data, they carried out 883 flights and transported over 103,300 passengers and about 340 tonnes of cargo and paid luggage. The load of passenger seats made up 89.3% and commercial load – 70.5%. Majority of flights, conducted by Tu-154, now are carried out by A320 airplanes.

In 2010, the airline paid attention to security of flights, intactness of aircrafts, improving aviation-technical and repair bases of airline, providing high quality services, and retraining employees.

The airline said that the security of flights is connected with technical state of aircrafts and correct maintenance works. Uzbekistan Havo Yollari said it is re-equipping its fleet.

Within implementation of investment project “Creation of international intermodal logistic center at Navoi city”, new freight terminal has been launched on 11 August 2010, which can cover all transport services on receiving, storing and sending cargoes. In the result, the cargo transportation increased by 63% year-on-year in 2010. The company said over 50,000 tonnes of cargo was transported in 2010, and half of them were sent via Navoi airport.

Uzbekistan Havo Yollari said it is continuing work on accession to International Aviation Alliance SkyTeam. The final general agreement on adherence of Uzbekistan Havo Yollari said to alliance was prepared.

The airline is improving its infrastructure to meet standards, accepted by members of the SkyTeam. On 27 August, the airline inked agreement with Sabre on introduction of programme for loyal passengers, in line with SkyTeam.
