Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, 1 November 2022, Uzbekistan Airways made its first flight on the route Tashkent - Kuala Lumpur. The flight, which was eagerly awaited for more than two years, lasted more than 7 hours and delivered 175 passengers to Kuala Lumpur International Airport on an A321Neo aircraft, commanded by Farhad Latypov. The aircraft was traditionally greeted with a water arch.

A solemn meeting of the first flight from Tashkent to Kuala Lumpur took place at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport. It was attended by representatives of the local airport and airlines, tour operators, media and passengers. It was noted that the resumption of flights to Malaysia by Uzbekistan Airways, while now citizens of the two countries can fly directly on regular flights, is a great opportunity for passengers. It was noted that this will serve the development and growth of tourism between the countries.

The resumption of flights to Malaysia was announced this year at an event dedicated to the development of tourism between Uzbekistan and Malaysia in Tashkent. It was mentioned that from the autumn of this year it is planned to resume trips with the participation of the Malaysian delegation - tour operators, hotel owners, government officials working in the field of tourism, and representatives of the medical tourism sector.

– The resumption of direct flights between countries is a great opportunity. As the pandemic recedes, flights to many cities resume. This year, a number of European routes were opened, and today another Asian direction has already been opened. In the autumn-winter season, the airline plans to resume a number of flights, Ilkhom Makhkamov, Chairman of the Board of Uzbekistan Airways.

Relations between Tashkent and Kuala Lumpur have been established since the first years of independence. Uzbekistan Airways started flying to Kuala Lumpur in 1992. For many years, flights between the two countries have served the development and exchange of experience in the field of economy, education, medicine, technology, tourism and many other areas. This regular flight will provide an opportunity to increase the flow between the two countries and especially Malaysian tourists to visit places of pilgrimage in our country.

From 1 November 2022, Tashkent-Kuala Lumpur flights will be operated on Tuesdays and Fridays, and Kuala Lumpur-Tashkent flights on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
