Uzbekistan Airways completes re-equipment of Samarkand Airport’s runway
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
Uzbekistan Havo Yollari (Uzbekistan Airways) equipped Samarkand international airport with Instrument Landing System (ILS) at its 27 runway, the company said.
The airline said the works were carried out within its programme on raising flight security and to develop Samarkand International Airport.
The company underlined that 27 runway was used for landing of heavy aircrafts due to difficult relief and inexistence of radio technical equipment for aircraft landing.
After assembly and setting, new system was tested on lab-aircraft. The specialists confirmed efficiency and characteristics of beacon system.
Beacon system will reduce use of DME long-range beacon, which is used in ex-Soviet airports and it will be the first such system used in Uzbekistan.
Thanks to new equipment, Samarkand International Airport will increase number of regular flights, the company said.
