Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A Turkish citizen traveling from Ankara to Tashkent filed a complaint over the absence of a promised gluten-free meal on board, according to the press service of Uzbekistan’s Committee for Consumer Rights Protection.

According to the agency, the passenger had notified the airline in advance about his medical condition when booking the ticket and received confirmation that a special meal would be provided. However, on the day of the flight, this commitment was not fulfilled.

The passenger also reported unsatisfactory sanitary conditions, noting that his seat contained leftover trash from a previous flight. Following an internal review, Uzbekistan Airways acknowledged the shortcomings. It was revealed that the catering service at Ankara Airport failed to load the requested meal.

As compensation for the moral and material inconvenience, the airline upgraded the passenger to business class on his next flight. Additionally, the company was instructed to strengthen cleanliness control and ensure adherence to service standards.
