Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A meeting was held at the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan between Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Jasur Karshibayev and a delegation of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) headed by Mr. Hong Wei, Senior Advisor to the Vice President for Investments in Central Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America.

The delegation also included Senior Investment Specialist Igor Popkov, Investment Specialist Jin Jin Jao, and Representative of the AIIB in Uzbekistan Alexey Shevchenko.

The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank is an international financial institution established in 2016 to improve the economic integration of the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, as well as to stimulate financial cooperation and financing of infrastructure projects. Uzbekistan has been a member of the AIIB since its establishment.

The purpose of this meeting was to discuss the progress of the current and three-year plan of promising projects for the AIIB’s sovereign financing for 2024-2026.

To date, Uzbekistan is implementing 7 projects jointly with the AIIB, including projects for developing infrastructure, the financial sector, and the social sphere.

At the beginning of the meeting, Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Jasur Karshibayev informed the guests about the ongoing reforms in the country, emphasizing the importance of cooperation with the AIIB in their implementation.

Representatives of the AIIB highly appreciated the progress of reforms and expressed their readiness to participate in the comprehensive development of Uzbekistan’s infrastructure and improve the standard of living of its population.

Following the meeting, further actions were agreed upon to implement the planned initiatives and agreements.
