Plant growing

In January-September 2009, share of plant growing made up 54.7% in total volume of agriculture production.

Total sown area of agriculture crops in the reporting period in all types of farms made up 3.557 million hectares as of 1 October 2009, which dropped by 10,900 hectares compared to 2008.

Areas, allocated to grain products, made up 1.598 million hectares or up 55,700 hectares year-on-year, cotton-plant - 1.344 million hectares (down 74,100 hectares), potato - 59,400 hectares (up 0.2 thousand hectares), vegetables - 155,800 hectares (down 2,100 hectares), forage crops - 280,000 hectares (up 12,200 hectares).

Harvesting

As of 1 October 2009, all types of farms produced 7.07 million tonnes of grain (up 10.2% year-on-year), including 6.839 million tonnes of grain crops, of which 6.572 million tonnes of wheat.

In the structure of grain production, largest share fell to share of wheat (93%), corn for grain (2.4%), rice (0.5%) and other grain crops (4%).

Uzbekistan produce 1.122 million tonnes of potato, 4.068 million tonnes of vegetables, 767,700 tonnes - melons and gourds, 1.028 million tonnes of fruits and berries and 591,700 tonnes of grape.

Cattle breeding

In total volume of agriculture output, share of cattle breeding made up 45.3%. Number of large cattle grew by 552,000 heads (7.1%), including cows by 197,700 heads (by 6%), sheep and goats by 816,000 heads (by 6%), poultry by 2.738 million heads (by 10.1%).

Private farms

Private farms of Uzbekistan produced goods for 2.871 trillion soums, which is down by 5.4% year-on-year.

As of 1 October 2009, private farms bred 477,800 heads of cattle, including 163,800 heads of cows, 1.067 million heads of sheep and goats, 3.049 million heads of poultry.

Number of cattle grew by 12,800 heads (up 2.8%), cows by 4,600 heads (up 2.9%), sheep and goats by 88,700 heads (up 9.1%) and poultry - 6.312 million heads (up 26.1%).

Silkworm breeding

Uzbekistan produced 23,972.6 tonnes of silkworm cocoons in January-September 2009, which is up 521.8 tonnes year-on-year.

The country produced 0.9 tonnes of high quality cocoons, 14,400 tonnes of elite grade cocoons, 176.1 tonnes of seed cocoons, 9,402.6 tonnes of first grade cocoons, 6,654.2 tonnes of the second grade of cocoons, 822 tonnes of nonstandard cocoons and 1,603.6 tonnes of karapachak.
