Uzbekistan, Afghanistan to sign new agreement on the organization of rail transportation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In December 2022, an Afghanistan special commission reviewed and agreed on the terms of a new agreement between Sogdiana Trans and Afghan Railways, revised by the head of the Afghan Railways Authority, and the fact that they are trying to accuse the Uzbek side in media, using a different interpretation of the agreed conditions to justify themselves, creates an incomprehensible situation. This was reported by the information and analytical media center AJ "O'zbekiston temir yo'llari".

It should be especially noted that no explanation is given from Afghanistan for the fact that they were unable to complete their technical work at the Hairatan station within the time frame set by them.

Also, earlier it was reported that the Afghan Railways Authority signed a contract with the Mansor Fateh to organize the unloading and return of wagons delivered to the Hairatan station.

Unfortunately, this company did not have time to organize work at the Hairatan station within the agreed timeframe, that is, until 31 January.

In addition, there is information that despite the fact that the SE "Sogdiana trans" holds meetings with entrepreneurs and provides assistance in organizing the transportation of goods by road in order to support them, the side of the neighboring state recommends entrepreneurs not to transport goods by road, which leads to downtime and accumulation of wagons.

At the same time, at the request of the leadership of the Afghan Railway Administration, at the beginning of next week in the city of Termez, a new agreement is planned to be signed between Sogdiana trans and the Afghan Railway Administration on the organization of railway transportation to Afghanistan, delivery and export of goods to the Hairatan station.

Upon completion of the signing of the new agreement, the Galaba-Hairatan railway will be opened.
