Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Law "On Standardization" was signed by the President of Uzbekistan.

According to the Law, the National Standardization System of the Republic of Uzbekistan consists of:

- Uzbek Agency for Technical Regulation under the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade;

- National standardization body;

- bodies of state and economic management;

- technical committees for standardization.

The main tasks of standardization are the protection of life, health of citizens and their property, and environmental protection.

The standardization plan can be adopted for the following time perspective:

- for short-term (up to 1 year);

- for the medium term (from 1 year to 5 years);

- long-term (from 5 to 10 years).

A unified information base of standards is formed and maintained by the National Standardization Body.

The categories of standards include:

- national standards;

- international (regional) standards;

- standards of foreign countries.

The law enters into force 12 months after its official publication.
