Uzbekistan adopts measures to order activity of taxis
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan introduces mandatory single requirements to external design and international information appearance of taxis, as well as taxi drivers, from 1 January 2012.

The Government of Uzbekistan adopted a resolution “On measures on ordering activities of taxis” on 18 May 2011.

According to the government decision, taxis should have orange lamp with TAXI sign on their roofs.

Front doors should have composition from black squares and T letter, as well as name of legal entity, which owns car. The cars should have special state number plates, designed for taxis.

The government said that the cars with yellow colour can be used as taxis, while cars in Tashkent should be of “ivory” colour. The document said that the colours of the cars can be changed at service stations.

Green light should be installed to taxis to top right of windshield. The light green will show that the taxi is vacant.

The taxi should also have information board and it should have information of vehicle number, drivers name and photo, work time, fee cost in soums, address and telephone of transportation company, license data, insurance policy, etc.

The board will be installed in salon of vehicle and all passengers should be able to read information clearly.

The document said each vehicle should have cash registrar and POS-terminal, taximeter and radio communication system.

The resolution said that the drivers with B license can drive taxis and they should be at the age of 21. The drivers should also undergo medical examination and have at least three years of driving experience.
