Uzbekistan Abolishes Agency for Information and Mass Communications

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan has officially dissolved the Agency for Information and Mass Communications (AIMC). In its place, a new National Content Production Center is being established, which will focus on shaping a high-quality media environment and enriching the country’s information landscape. The announcement was made by the Press Secretary to the President of Uzbekistan, Sherzod Asadov.

Under the new approach, all regulatory documents and policy initiatives will be developed based on scientific research conducted by analytical institutes operating under the Presidential Administration. Special attention will be given to implementing expert recommendations, including those provided by leading domestic and international specialists.

Key reforms and initiatives will be implemented through specialized project offices. A compliance system is being introduced within the structure of the Presidential Administration, aimed at ensuring transparency, strengthening accountability, improving discipline in execution, and preventing corruption.

For several strategically important areas, the positions of Presidential representatives are being introduced to enhance the effectiveness of implementation at the regional level.

There is a strong emphasis on increasing the openness and accountability of government bodies to the public. The institution of press secretaries will be strengthened, and an updated system for interaction with citizens and the media will be introduced. This system will ensure regular and reliable communication between the government and the population.
