Uzbekenergo reconstructs infrastructure of Navoi thermal power station
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekenergo state joint stock company completed reconstruction of open distribution facility (ODF) 200 kilovolt at Navio thermal power station.

RIA Novosti reported that within the project, the company replaced old dated aerial switch 220 kilovolt to modern gas-insulated switches. Chinese companies supplied the equipment.

Total sum of the project made up US$28 million. Uzbekenergo financed the project due to own resources.

Reconstruction of ODF was conducted within modernization of Navoi thermal power station. In August 2009, Uzbekenergo signed contract with consortium, including Turkey’s Calik Enerji Sanayi ve Ticaret AS and Spain’s Initec to modernize the station for US$470 million.

Within the contract, the consortium will build on combined-cycle plant with the capacity of 447 megawatt on turnkey basis. Japan’s Mitsubishi supplies combined-cycle plant. Combined-cycle plant will be commissioned in September 2012.

The project cost is US$530 million and it is financed due to loan of the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan for US$351 million, own resources of Uzbekenergo and loans of the Uzbek banks.
