Te law enforcement agencies detained the woman during an inspection of a passenger train on the Tashkent-Novosibirsk route at the Keles railway station.
They found about 2.5 kg of heroin, which was thoroughly hidden in her bag. The woman confessed that she had received about US$60 from a Tajik female citizen for delivering the drug, and was to receive additional 1 million soums (US$690) after coming back.
The Tajik citizen was also detained, but she would face a separate criminal case.
The ruling against Olmanoy Ahmedova was made under Article 246 (smuggling) and 273 (illegal production, acquisition, possession of and other activities related to narcotics or psychotropic drugs with commercial purposes) of the Uzbek Criminal Code.
