Uzbek universities to accept 62,600 students in 2011/2012 academic year
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Higher educational establishments of Uzbekistan will admit about 62,600 students in 2011/2012 academic year as in previous year.

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a resolution “On admission to higher education establishments of Uzbekistan in 2011/2012 academic year” on 4 July 2011. The document set admission quotas for universities.

In line with the resolution, the Uzbek universities will accept 56,607 people to Bachelor degree courses, including 19,560 people – on state grants and 37,047 people – on payment-contract base.

In 2011/2012 educational year, the quota for admission to Master degree courses makes up 5,880 people, including 1,566 people – on state grants and 4,314 people – on payment-contract base.

Correspondence department of Kungrad branch of Tashkent chemical-technologic institute will admit 65 students to Bachelor department on state grants, while Tashkent information Technologies University – 50 students, including 15 on state grants and 35 on payment-contract base.

The resolution said that new classificatory of directions and specialties of higher education has been approved in line with the programme on modernization of material-technical base of higher education of establishments and cardinal improvement of quality of specialists training for 2011-2016.

New classificatory cut number of direction of education in Bachelor departments from 228 to 165 and Master degree specialties from 1,200 to 447 due to uniting similar specialties and liquidating specialties, which are not demanded in economy and social sector.
