Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The third round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and Sweden was held in Stockholm, Dunyo news agency reports.

The Uzbek delegation was headed by the head of the Department for Cooperation with European Countries and EU Institutions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Oybek Shakhavdinov. The Swedish side was represented by the Director of the Department of Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Peter Erickson.

During the consultations, a thorough exchange of views took place on the entire agenda of bilateral relations, as well as on international and regional issues.

The parties spoke in favor of expanding political dialogue, interparliamentary, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties, and filling the common agenda with practical content.

Particular attention was paid to issues of increasing trade, economic and investment cooperation. The importance of institutionalizing contacts in this direction by creating appropriate mechanisms for bilateral interaction was noted.

The prospects for implementing joint investment projects, increasing trade volumes and expanding exports from Uzbekistan to Sweden were discussed.

At the meeting, attention was also paid to the issues of expanding ties in the cultural and humanitarian sphere and intensifying exchanges between scientific and educational institutions.

An exchange of views took place on interaction within the European Union, as well as certain aspects of the regional and international agenda.

In conclusion, an agreement was reached to hold the next round of political consultations in 2024 in Uzbekistan.
