Uzbek students to be provided with scholarships to study at universities in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan Kogratbay Sharipov and the Chairman of the Government of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China Erkin Tuniyaz signed an agreement to provide scholarships to citizens of Uzbekistan to study in higher educational organizations in China.

The Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan Kongratbay Sharipov and the Chairman of the Government of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China Erkin Tuniyaz signed an agreement to provide scholarships to citizens of Uzbekistan to study in higher educational organizations in China.

The parties agreed to establish direct cooperation between higher education institutions and scientific institutions, support the exchange of experience in the field of education, scientific research, technology and management, mutual visits and the exchange of teachers and scientific personnel. Also an integral part of the agreement was the creation of joint research groups to conduct scientific research.

According to the document, by the end of November of each year, the Chinese side will provide a list of higher educational institutions in which citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan can study, as well as information about the conditions and requirements of scholarship programs. The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan will present a list of students recommended for studying at universities in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China.

The duration of study for scholarship holders from among foreign citizens is determined by the host party in accordance with the requirements of the national education system. Applicants to study in China must have a certain level of Chinese language proficiency. If necessary, language courses can be organized for students recommended for scholarships.

According to the original agreement, the scholarships are intended to cover the cost of tuition, housing, insurance premiums (including health insurance) and a portion of living expenses.
