Uzbekistan 27/08/2007 Uzbek Senate appoints several envoys, ends session

The 11th plenary session of the Uzbek Supreme Assembly’s Senate ended its work in Tashkent on Saturday.

The senators discussed 24 issues, including 12 laws, during the two-day session.

On the second day of the session, the senators discussed and adopted several issues related to the country’s social and economic life. In particular, the laws on introducing amendments to the law on rational use of energy resources and introducing amendments and addenda to some laws in connection with the adoption of a presidential decree on regulating ways gambling games are organized and held were adopted.

During the 11th plenary session, the composition of the Uzbek Central Electoral Commission was also changed, some presidential decrees were adopted, and the compositions of the Supreme Court and the Supreme Economic Court of Uzbekistan were changed.

During the plenary session, the senators also discussed the issue of appointing Uzbekistan’s ambassadors to several countries. Based on the recommendation by Uzbek President Islom Karimov, Ziyodulla Polatkhojayev was appointed ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Kyrgyzstan; Alisher Salohiddinov to China; Otabek Akbarov to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland; Jahongir Ganiyev to Italy; and Alisher Farmonov to Singapore.

With this, the Senate’s 11th plenary session ended its work.
