Uzbekistan 18/06/2007 Uzbek president visits central Navoiy Region

Uzbek President Islam Karimov continued his journey and arrived in Navoiy Region [central Uzbekistan]. Earlier, the Uzbek head visited neighboring Bukhara region.

 

President Islam Karimov started his visit to Navoiy Region by familiarizing himself with construction and renovation work being carried out at the town’s airport. It should be noted that today this airport meets international standards. Its runway can be used by big aircraft. Engineering and communication work has been carried out. Rooms with a number of facilities have been built for visitors.  

 

As is known, our head of state visited the region last year, and presented a number of practical proposals on renovation work at Navoiy airport. Today, first of all, he was interested to learn about the implementation of these proposals, and held a conversation with specialists to learn to what extent the runway met international standards. Considering that this airport was important not only for the region but also for entire Uzbekistan’s economy, he defined tasks to be carried out at the next stage. Specifically, he gave instructions to build a medium-sized hotel and a big fuel and lubricants storage facility, a fire-fighting service and a number of other services and infrastructure at the airport.  

 

President Islam Karimov held a meeting with workers of Zargoron Barakali Hosil farm in Qiziltepa District on development of farms, their advantages and problems.

 

Karimov said farmers, work to increase soil fertility, approach people, speak nicely to them, find out about their problems and try to find a solution. Assistance should be given to them. Coercive measures will not work.  

 

Uzbek head of state held a friendly conversation with residents of Navbog village. He was interested to learn about their living conditions and lifestyle. He talked to each of them. Attention was paid to young people’s future and education.
