Uzbek President talks with residents of mahalla in Ferghana region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the “Khitoy” mahalla in Fergana region’s Bagdad district and got acquainted with residents’ life.

About 2.8 thousand people live here. Residents are effectively using their homesteads. Women earn money by sewing. Animal husbandry, poultry farming, and fish farming are well-developed.

There are more than ten shops, a furniture company, a barber shop, a sewing and handicraft workshops in the mahalla. There are good conditions for youth sports. Over the past two years, no crime has been recorded in the mahalla.

The Head of state visited Abdugaffor Khalilov’s house and sincerely spoke with mahalla residents.

“I am happy to be here, to see with my own eyes how the development of Fergana is going on, what conditions exist in the mahalla”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said. – We organize all the work from the bottom level so that everyone can feel the reforms in their lives. There are 1062 mahallas in Fergana region. The problems and needs of families need to be solved here, on the spot, so that people would be happy with us. All leaders should change their worldview and work hard to serve our people with dignity”.

Representatives of the older generation told how the appearance of the mahalla has changed in recent years and that the infrastructure has been improved within the framework of the Open Budget Program. In particular, 5 kilometers of internal roads were covered with asphalt, and the power grid and transformer were updated.

The President supported the proposals for renovating the mahalla assembly building and constructing an additional facility for the school and gave appropriate instructions. The importance of young people getting an education, mastering a profession, and meaningful organization of their leisure time was noted.
