Uzbek President signs resolution on celebration of Uzbekistan’s Independence Day
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a resolution “On the preparation and holding the celebrations of the 20th anniversary of the state Independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan” on 6 April 2011.

The resolution approved the programme of organizational, practical, cultural, educational and awareness raising activities related to the celebrations, as well as the structure of the creative group to prepare the holiday program in Tashkent.

In accordance with the document, all holiday-related preparatory activities and events will be held under the slogan “You are great and sacred, independent Motherland!”

Uzbek leader approved the national commission for preparation and holding celebrations of the 20th independence anniversary, which is headed by the Uzbek Prime Minister Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The commission has been entrusted with adopting measures to ensure timely commissioning of the industrial, social and cultural objects, which will open on the eve of the Independence Day (1 September).

A separate plan of events will be developed for the country’s youth, including students of schools, academic lyceums, professional colleges and higher educational institutions.

Special attention will be paid to holding the Barkamol Avlod (Harmoniously Developed Generation) sports competitions among the students of secondary educational institutions in Termez and the youth forum titled “We are 20 years old”, as well as various sports competitions and an Independence Cup marathon among companies, organizations and educational establishments.

Other events included in the programme are traditional Sharq Taronalari international musical festival, contests Nihol, Kelajak Ovozi, Eng Ulug, Eng Aziz, Oltin Qalam, Ozod Yurt Tolkinlari, Navqiron Ozbekiston, Asrlar Sadosi, and a number of new events.
