An official welcoming ceremony for the high-ranking guest was held at the Dormon residence on 17 November.

After the ceremony, one-to-one and expanded meetings were held between Uzbek President Islam Karimov and Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

During the talks, expanding and developing Uzbek-Malaysian cooperation, as well as topical regional and international issues of mutual interest were discussed.
