Uzbek President familiarized himself with typical road infrastructure

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected the road repaired under a new project in the Karakul district.

In Bukhara region there are 15.4 thousand kilometers of roads, of which 486 kilometers are of international importance. On average, 45–50 thousand vehicles travel along them every day.

At a video conference meeting held on 29 January 2024, the head of state paid special attention to this area, giving instructions on the quality construction of roads and the development of services along the streets. Work in this direction has begun in all regions.

In particular, part of the Samarkand – Bukhara – Turkmenbashi highway, passing through the Karakul region, was brought into exemplary form.

According to the project, the four-lane road is covered with a new type of asphalt concrete. Thanks to the use of innovative materials with high strength, the quality characteristics of the road have been improved.

For example, if asphalt roads based on traditional technology are repaired approximately every fifteen years, then roads of a new design will last up to twenty years. The maintenance interval will also increase. Another advantage is the ability to recycle and renew road layers directly on site during renovation.

The head of state noted the need to scale the project.

“The main task is to ensure quality and culture on the roads,” said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The new project pays special attention to this issue. To maintain the quality of the road, mobile scales will be installed to periodically measure the weight of vehicles carrying loads beyond the permissible limit.

A side road has also been built here. New signs, electronic displays and solar panel lighting have been installed. Decorative trees are planted along the road.

The President emphasized that tree planting should be carried out simultaneously with road construction.

Projects in the field of transport and construction are also presented here.

If earlier an average of 250–300 kilometers of road work were carried out per year, then in 2023 alone 1,255 kilometers of roads were repaired. This year it is planned to reconstruct and repair 1,316 kilometers of roads in the region.

In continuation of this work, a project for the reconstruction of 155 kilometers of road from the Gijduvan region to the border with Turkmenistan was approved.

The need to organize training in the field of road construction and advanced training of specialists in developed countries was emphasized.

The concept of development of the city of Bukhara was also considered. It is planned to build an array and a park “New Uzbekistan” in the city. The park will reflect the history of Bukhara using modern approaches. Instructions were given for developing the ideological content and feasibility study of the project.
