"I am convinced that the traditionally friendly and mutually beneficial relations between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Belarus will continue to develop and deepen in the interests of our peoples," said President Islam Karimov.

Presidential elections in Belarus took place on 19 December 2010. Incumbent President Alexander Lukashenko won elections in the first round, receiving 79.67% of votes.
