In line with the presidential resolution, the programme was adopted in connection with announcement of 2012 as “The Year of Family” in Uzbekistan. The programme is aimed at implementing a complex of measures directed at strengthening and developing family institute as basics of society, lifting works on strengthening legal and social-economic interests of family to new level, etc

The programme was developed by the Republication Commission, founded in line with the decision of the President from 13 December 2011, in connection with interested ministries and departments, Council of Ministers of Karakalpakstan, regional administrations, NGOs, etc.

Based on humanitarian principle “Healthy family – healthy society, strong and stable country”, the main directions of the programme determined as:

• Further improvement of legislation and normative-legal base, introduction necessary changes and amendments to acting legislation and development of new laws, regulations and norms, directed at developing and improving family institute;
• Strengthen attention and care of young families, ensure their legal and social protection, provide them material and moral support, including habitation, necessary benefits and preferences;
• Further strengthen role and raise status of mahalla institute in society and daily life, strengthen role of mahalla and self-governing bodies in implementation of the goals and tasks of the Year of Family, their impact in support and strengthening of young families, provide them necessary aid and assistance;
• Further strengthen care on solving problems and needs of family by the government and society, first of all needy families, render them material aid and social support in upbringing children, create necessary social and domestic conditions for them with special attention to women;
• Further improvement of system on protection health of family, maternity and childhood based on principle “Healthy mother – healthy child”.
• Raise role and importance of family in further development of spiritual base of the society, preserve and strengthen national values, fight negative impacts, which are absolutely alien to national mentality;
• Strengthen role of family in developing physically healthy, spiritually developed and harmonically developed generation and strengthen mechanism on interaction of family with educational institution, and ensure close and effective cooperation.
