Uzbek President approves resolution to ensure safety of tourist in transport and tourism facilities

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Presidential resolution “On additional measures to implement an effective public safety system at transport and tourism facilities” was adopted.

In accordance with the resolution, the concept of ensuring safe tourism implemented in the cities of Bukhara, Samarkand, Khiva and Shakhrisabz will be implemented in stages in the city of Tashkent, the Tashkent and Surkhandarya regions.

The Main Directorate of Transport Security of the Ministry of the Interior was established.

The main task of the Main Department is to coordinate work on the protection of public order, the prevention of offenses and the fight against crime at the facilities of the metro, railway and air transport infrastructure.

From April 1, 2019, units for the provision of safe tourism are entitled to provide paid services to accompany tourists in motor vehicles, as well as the protection of public order at cultural heritage sites. Safe tourism in transport will be provided by transport security units.

Consideration of administrative offenses committed along the railway travel of a tourist destination is carried out by introducing posts of accompanying prevention inspectors.

From April 1, 2019, a Safe Tourism Assistance Fund will be established at the Ministry of the Interior.

The resources of the Fund will be used to encourage employees of the departments of ensuring safe tourism, as well as holding various exhibitions and fairs.

The Road Map was approved to improve the efficiency of ensuring safe tourism in the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2019.

As part of the Roadmap, a mechanism will be introduced to use special bracelets equipped with GPS devices with the ability to send SOS signals to travel agencies by travel companies and locate.

The resolution also determined that persons without permanent residence in the city of Tashkent can be accepted for service in the central office and higher educational institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as the Main Department of Internal Affairs of the city of Tashkent.
