He said that Tajikistan had been forced to use capacities of the Norak and Qayroqqum hydrolelectric power stations to the maximum after the suspension of transit of electricity from Turkmenistan.

"Lately, the amount of water in the Norak reservoir is lowering on average by 50 cm a day. This amount should be filled in the summer period when water is more essential for agricultural needs than in the winter period," the Tajik foreign minister said, adding that the similar situation is observed in the Qayroqqum hydroelectric power station.

Touching upon the Tajik-Uzbek relations, the Tajik foreign minister said that there were no problems between the two countries which cannot be resolved.

"I think that the main problem in our relations is shortcomings in the work of certain ministries and agencies of the two countries, first of all, of the foreign ministries of our countries in various issues," Hamrokhon Zarifi said.

Transit of the Turkmen electricity to Tajikistan via Uzbekistan was suspended on 1 January 2009.
