Uzbek-Polish intergovernmental commission holds session in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The second session of the Uzbek-Polish intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation was held in Tashkent on 24 November 2009.

Ministry of foreign economic relations, investments and trade of Uzbekistan and Ministry of Economy of Poland organized the session.

During the session, the sides discussed issues of further development of trade-economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Poland in various sectors of economy.

The sides also considered issues of cooperation in finance and insurance, transport and communication, agriculture and food industry, as well as tourism between Uzbekistan and Poland.

Representatives of key ministries and departments, companies and concerns, large enterprises and organizations of Uzbekistan and business circles of Poland participated at the work of the Uzbek-Polish intergovernmental commission.

On the result of the session of the Uzbek-Polish intergovernmental commission, the sides agreed on cooperation between business circles of two states in such priority directions of economy, including automobile, mining, electrotechnical, pharmaceutical industries and information-communication sectors.

Trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Poland grew from US$79.8 million in January-September 2008 to US$90.5 million in the same period of 2009 (growth 13.4%). Exports of Uzbekistan fell from US$31.3 million in nine months of 2008 to US$79.8 million in the same period of 2009. Imports jumped from US$48.5 million to US$75.4 million in the reviewed period.
