During an operation conducted by officers of the Surkhandarya Regional interior department, the trafficking of a large amount of a drug was stopped.

In Surkhandarya Region’s Sariosiyo District, a local’s car was inspected, and that it was discovered that the car was carrying a narcotic substance packed in two bags.

It was established as a result of an expert examination that the substance was opium weighing nearly 20 kg.

Arrested suspect said he had agreed to transport the drug from Tajikistan for US$300 dollars.

Investigation is under way.
