Karimov’s victory in the presidential election "is a clear proof that people support the government’s policy of strategic partnership with Russia. In 2007, foreign investment in Uzbekistan’s economy increased by 30 per cent comparing with 2006, including about 40 per cent of Russian investments", Shafranik said.
