Erkin Khalilov, speaker of the Uzbek Supreme Assembly’s Legislative Chamber (parliament’s lower house), on 12 December met the members of a visiting delegation led by Agung Laksono, the speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Uzbek National News Agency reports.
During the meeting, it was noted that interparliamentary relations were successfully developing between Uzbekistan and Indonesia, and the agreements reached during the meetings of the two countries’ leaders served as an important legal basis.
"We strive for mutually beneficial cooperation with Uzbekistan, which is steadily developing in all spheres," Laksono said.
The current state of and prospects for developing relations between the legislative bodies of Uzbekistan and Indonesia were discussed in detail. The sides confirmed that all opportunities existed to raise the interparliamentary relations to a new stage, and agreed on further stepping up cooperation in this area.
The delegation of the Indonesian parliament held talks with Ilgizar Sobirov, speaker of the Uzbek Supreme Assembly’s Senate (parliament’s upper house), the same day.
During the meeting, it was stressed that the interparliamentary relations were of great significance in strengthening the legal basis, which promotes the development of relations.
