Representatives of the ministries, departments and companies of Uzbekistan and Pakistan, engaged trade, investments, fuel and energy, agriculture and water management, science, high technologies, pharmaceutics, textile, food and construction materials industries, participated at the meeting.
Pakistan is interested in broadening beneficial cooperation with Uzbekistan, Minister of Water and Energy Resources of Pakistan and Commission’s co-chairman Pervez Ashraf said.
Bilateral trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Pakistan made up US$23.4 million in 2008. The two states had signed agreements on avoiding double taxation and mutual stimulation and protection of investments.
About 60 joint ventures with participation of Pakistani capital currently operate in Uzbekistan. About 10 companies of Pakistan have their representative offices in Uzbekistan.
