Economy 10/09/2009 Uzbek minister confers with Omani ministers
Elyor Ganiev, Minister of Foreign Economic Relations, Investment and Trade of Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 8 September, Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdallah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs, received in Muscat Elyer Ganiyev, Uzbekistan Minister of Foreign Economic Relations, Investment and Trade, who is currently visiting the Sultanate of Oman.

The meeting dealt with ways of boosting bilateral relations. Alawi and Ganiyev also discussed regional and international issues of common concern. Maqbool bin Ali bin Sultan, Minister of Commerce and Industry of Oman, also received Elyer Ganiyev. The meeting dealt with ways of enhancing bilateral relations in economic and commercial spheres, as well the sectors of oil, gas and petrochemical.

The two ministers also reviewed means of facilitating the transfer of goods between the Sultanate and Uzbekistan by Iran-Uzbekistan railway, through Bandar Abbas Port. Ganiyev outlined Uzbekistan potential, development and economic plans. He stressed the keenness of his country to develop co-operation with the Sultanate through commercial exchange and other means. Maqbool welcomed economic and trade co-operation with Uzbekistan, as well as the signing of investment ventures.

Oman Tourism Minister Dr Rajha bint Abdulameer bin Ali also met Ganiyev and his accompanying delegation currently visiting the Sultanate.

The two sides exchanged views on various aspects of co-operation between the Sultanate and Uzbekistan. They explored ways to establish mutual economic relations, particularly tourism investment projects and the exchange of tourist groups.

The sides also discussed the importance of conducting studies and integrated working plans on economic investment, as well as exchanging expertise and human resources.

Ganiyev also conferred with Dr Mohammed bin Hamad al Rumhy, Minister of Oil and Gas. They discussed means of developing co-operation, particularly in the fields of oil and gas.
