Uzbek-Malaysian special economic zone may appear in Parkent district of Tashkent region
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A potential Uzbek-Malaysian Special Economic Zone (SEZ) may be located in the Parkent District of Tashkent Region, according to the press service of the regional administration.
The Khokim (Governor) of Tashkent Region, Zoyir Mirzaev, held a meeting with representatives from the Malaysian company MMC Corporation, discussing the possibility of creating a bilateral SEZ spanning 120 hectares in the capital region.
During the discussions, various issues were raised, including the further development of the zone, creating favorable conditions for investors interested in manufacturing activities, and other important aspects.
It is worth noting that in February of this year, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim agreed to establish a special economic zone in Tashkent Region to support joint projects.
Management of the SEZ was planned to be transferred to a leading Malaysian company.
Additionally, it was announced that the creation and management of the Uzbek-Malaysian industrial zone will be handled by MMC Corporation.
